Tekki Shodan |
|
De afkomst van dit Kata is Chinees. In Okinawa bekend als Naihanchi.
Funakoshi Sensei veranderde de naam in Tekki, duidend op "IJzeren
Ruiter" en verwijzend naar het gebruik van kibadachi om een
"ijzeren" (sterke) stand te ontwikkelen. Het kata ontwikkeld
ook de taille en het bovenlichaam. Dit is een Shitei Gata voor 3e
kyu (bruine band). Het is ook een verplicht kata (examinators keuze) voor 1ste kyu (laatste bruine band) en Shodan (zwarte band). |
The origins of this kata are Chinese. Known as Naihanchi in Okinawa.
Funakoshi Sensei changed the name to Tekki signifying 'Iron Horseman'
referring to the use of kibadachi to creating an 'iron' (strong) stance.
The kata also develops the waist and torso area. This is a Shitei Gata
for 3rd Kyu (brown belt). It is also a mandatory kata (examiner's choice) for 1st Kyu(Last brown belt level) and Shodan (Black belt). |

Bassai Dai |
|
Bassai betekent "Het Fort Binnendringen", duidend op de
innerlijke strijd om zelf controle. Het kata schakeld snel en gracieus
over van verdediging naar aanval en de nadruk ligt op de heup
bewegingen. Het woord "Dai" betekent groot en omvangrijk en
verwijst naar de lengte van het kata en de omvang van de bewegingen. Van
de twee Bassai kata is dit de eerste en originele versie. Een Tokui Gata voor 2e kyu, 1ste kyu en Shodan. Het is ook een Sentei Gata (verplichte leerling keuze) voor Shodan,Nidan,Sandan en Yondan. |
Bassai means 'To penetrate a fortress' signifying the internal battle
for control of the self. The kata switches from defense to offense
quickly and gracefully, and the emphasis is on hip movements. The word
Dai refers to 'large' or 'great' indicating the length of the kata and
size of movement. Of the two Bassai Kata this is first and original
version. A Tokui Gata for 2nd Kyu,1st Kyu and Shodan. It is also a Sentei Gata (mandatory -students choice) for Shodan,Nidan,Sandan,Yondan. |

Kanku Dai |
|
Kanku betekent "Kijk naar de Hemel". De openings beweging
"Naar de hemel kijken" symboliseert het universum en het
concept van ku of "leeg" waarbij je de tegenstander laat zien
dat je geen wapens draagt (zie Meikyo). Het is een gracieus en krachtig
kata dat de voorloper was van de Heian Kata. Veel bewegingen en basis
technieken van de Heian kata zijn duidelijk te zien. Een Tokui Gata voor 2e kyu, 1ste kyu en Shodan. Het is ook een Sentei Gata (verplichte leerling keuze) voor Shodan,Nidan,Sandan en Yondan. |
Kanku means 'To view the sky'. The opening movement 'looking at the
sky' symbolises the universe and the concept of ku or 'empty' showing
the opponent that you bear no weapons (Also see Meikyo). It is a
graceful and powerful kata that was the forerunner to the Heian Kata.
Many of the Heian movements and foundations can be clearly seen. A Tokui Gata for 2nd Kyu,1st Kyu and Shodan examinations. It is also a Sentei Gata (mandatory -students choice) for Shodan,Nidan,Sandan,Yondan. |

Jion |
|
Een Boedhistische term voor "Liefde" en "Goed".
De Jion Ji was een tempel in China. Dit, alsmede de positie van de
handen in Yoi duiden op de chinese oorsprong van het kata. Een Tokui Gata voor 2e kyu, 1ste kyu en Shodan examens. Het is ook een Sentei Gata (verplichte leerling keuze) voor Shodan,Nidan,Sandan en Yondan. |
A Buddhist term for 'love' and 'good'. The Jion-Ji was a temple in
China. This plus the posture of the hands in Yoi indicate the Chinese
origins to the kata. A Tokui Gata for 2nd Kyu,1st Kyu and Shodan examinations. It is also a Sentei Gata (mandatory -students choice) for Shodan,Nidan,Sandan,Yondan. |

Empi |
|
Enpi betekent "Vliegende Zwaluw". De bewegingen zijn licht
en dartel, duidend op de verdedigende vlucht van een zwaluw. Een oud
kata met als origenele naam Wanshu. Een Tokui Gata voor 2e kyu, 1ste kyu en Shodan examens. Het is ook een Sentei Gata (verplichte leerling keuze) voor Shodan,Nidan,Sandan en Yondan. |
Enpi means 'Flying Swallow'. The movements are light and darting,
indicative of a swallow's defensive flight. An ancient kata known
originally as Wanshu. A Tokui Gata for 2nd Kyu,1st Kyu and Shodan examinations. It is also a Sentei Gata (mandatory -students choice) for Shodan,Nidan,Sandan,Yondan. |
