Goblins
A different use for goblins is that of the supporting unit. Where a supporting unit normally adds some extra casualties to a close combat situation goblins are used in a slightly different way.

Here's how it works:
The goblins are used as a cheap add-on to an Orc Boar Boyz unit. A normal Boar Boyz unit costs somewhere between 200 and 300 points. But with 50 points of goblins and 100 points of Boar Boyz (about 5 models, no command group) you can get about the same effect.

Do this as follows: First pin the enemy with the goblins and then charge in with your boars. Using goblins in this way ensures that the Boar Boyz get to charge, have the outnumbering bonus and adds a (small) rank bonus. The disadvantage of this strategy is the fact that your Boar Boyz unit cannot charge outright into the enemy, but when used right this strategy can earn more than double the points it cost. Just remember not to use Savage Orc boar Boyz for this, because they are frenzied and have to charge anything that is in their charge range, which takes away the advantage of the goblin unit.

Boar Boyz
When using chariots the main disadvantage of them is their vulnerability to canon balls and bolt throwers. so why not use a small unit of boar boyz instead of a chariot. When you field them as a unit of 5 models, with no command group they costs only 10 points more then a Boar Chariot and they have at least six S5 attacks when charging (3 models) and more if you can get the models in base contact. Put them in a single rank so a bolt thrower can only take out one at a time and Stone throwers can't cover them completely with a template.
